The 7^th annual Global Biosimilars Week (GBW), a global awareness campaign initiated by the International Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Association, will take place October 19 -24, 2026! The goal this year is simple: To help expand the world’s understanding around the powerful and life-changing impact of biosimilar medicines.

The un-tapped value of biosimilar medicines can be realized by breaking down a diverse array of the regulatory, policy and legal barriers currently impeding the quality of affordable patient care, the efficiency of health systems and the general welfare of societies across the globe. This year, we invite patients, healthcare professionals, government organizations, and all generic and biosimilar medicines industry professionals and advocates to save the date and get involved by spreading the word across all digital channels, using #GlobalBiosimilarsWeek.

This year’s theme, Realizing the Global Value of Biosimilars, positions biosimilar medicines with enormous value-add potential, on a world-wide scale. Biosimilar medicines are the single largest untapped savings opportunity across healthcare. A decade of real-world evidence confirms their safety and efficacy—but, in regions across the globe, biosimilar market entry is often delayed or halted due to regulatory, policy and legal constraints. This delay in market entry, often coined the biosimilar void, negatively impacts patient access to the most affordable treatment options. Now is the time to raise our collective global voice and become a force for change. Let’s urge the purposeful actions necessary to move biosimilar medicines out of the void and into the value!
